IFOTES 2019, the events open to citizens

Udine will host the new edition of the IFOTES international congress, and for the occasion the city will host a thousand people to participate in the event of the International Federation of helplines. The city of Udine will therefore become a meeting place for experts, volunteers and scholars from 20 countries, who will discuss the issue of loneliness.

The congress

The international congress will see 7 plenary sessions, 20 parallel sessions, 92 workshops, with 56 speakers and 75 trainers from all over Europe. The sessions will be held in four different languages ​​and in part will be translated. An event, organized by IFOTES and ARTESS together with the Municipality of Udine - project O.M.S. ‘Healthy City’, which is conceived open to all those interested. 

It will also give participants from abroad the opportunity to discover Udine and its surroundings, its peculiarities, its flavors and its artistic jewels. 

The congess starts on 3rd July afternoon with the registration of the participants and the Welcome Reception from the city. The opening of the scintific programme will be Thursday 4th July at 9 am at  Teatro Nuovo Giovanni da Udine.

Sessions for citizens

Many sessions will be open to the citizens: 

Thursday, July 4, from 11 to 12, at the Theater, Ines Testoni and Luz Cardenas will talk about the loneliness of the loss; from 16 to 17, Marco Trabucchi and Matteo Balestrieri they will discuss solitude in old age. At the same time, but in Sala Valduga, in the Chamber of Commerce, Daniele Damele and Marco Giordani will talk about how loneliness is perceived and experienced. From 6.00 pm to 7.30 pm a group of local associations will talk about the many initiatives against loneliness launched in Udine for the elderly. 

Every day there will be several appointments open to the public, alternated with sessions dedicated to professionals (the entire program is available on the site). Alongside the meetings, cultural initiatives are also planned such as exhibitions (at Palazzo Morpurgo, in Galleria Modotti), screenings of films related to the theme of the Congress (in the Loris Fortuna Gardens), presentation of books and concerts. A series of installations is also planned in Piazza Libertà and under the Loggia del Lionello.
